duPont Manual High School first opened its doors in 1892, and became a Magnet High School in 1984. Housed in a traditional grand-Victorian building located adjacent to the University of Louisville, Manual is recognized as a National School of Excellence. The school consists of five highly selective magnet programs: Journalism & Communications; High School University; Mathematics, Science, and Technology; Visual Arts; and the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS). Manual enrolls more than 1,900 gifted and talented students from the Louisville Metropolitan area. 99% of Manual graduates go on to college.
